University: All you need to know…

Its that time of year again.

Yes, people are receiving offers left right and centre for University but it can be, although full of excitement, one of the most daunting times for young people applying.
As a University student myself, I am writing this post in the hope that it gives people a sense of relief that it really isn’t a time that needs to be stressful! Whether you are going to University, getting a job, or an apprenticeship, there is something out there for you!
This is your last year of school with friends who you may have known for 7+, and soon you will be going your separate ways so although academics are important, try and spend as much time making memories because at the end of the day, you will treasure those moments- not finishing a piece of homework (although that is still important!). Remember- it is all about balance.
Creating a timetable may be a good way to prioritise, or if you can mentally prioritise; whatever works for you. Alongside this, working late at night will make you more tired throughout the next day and therefore set a time to stop working for example 20:00.
So you’ve done all the hard work and you get to results day. Now what?
If you’ve met your offer conditions well done! From there your first choice University should contact you with what to do next.
However, if you have received your first offer but you know you won’t be happy on that course, you can ring UCAS through clearing and the University and they will be able to direct you on what to do next, but remember they are there to help you, it is straightforward and it should all be sorted within a few days. If you didn’t quite meet your conditions, don’t panic. There are so many options for example clearing courses or resitting the year.
University, in my opinion, is one of the best decisions i’ve made! You meet people from different parts of the world and open your eyes to so much. Freshers is a great way to make friends from different courses. Personally, I chose to stay at home for University and so I didn’t have the opportunity to make friends within a flat; therefore by taking part in different activities, even without your comfort zone, is a great way of meeting people with similar interests as you!
If you have applied to University this year, good luck! If you have any suggestions I could talk about in future posts, leave a comment and i’ll try my best!
All my love, Sophie x
